 MINSTREL
You are the Minstrel, the artistic and introspective personalitys in fantasy. Minstrels can range from court bards to wandering performers willing to play their instruments or sing in any inn they come upon just to earn some money. Minstrels are very creative and are naturally artistic. They are often deep, quiet, and philosophical. Their thoughts and ideas can be very profound. Minstrels usually have a way with words or music. These artists see the beauty around us or delve within themselves and produce something new that is truly wonderful.

I spent the day downtown, I picked up a nice little guide book from chapters.
It's a "cheap eats" book with a tons of spots around Montreal. So many times I've been out with friends and had no clue where to go.
Now I can look like the smart one as a sneak a peak when they are not looking :)
Started reading "Stand And Deliver" A book about the roots of comedy in Canada. Dating all the way back to World War I.
Canada's first comedy troupe: The Dumbells. Forming out of the military to raise morale for the troupes, once the war was over, they toured in Britain, US and Canada.
Really good stuff, powerful... which I wasn't expecting, the author gets heavily in to the war.
Alrighty, well, I'm gonna go catch the tail end of the Hockey Night in Canada double header, I think they are covering Calgary!

Back and forth, Montreal is up, then Toronto is up, then Montreal, then Toronto, but we finished it off! That makes the Habs 3-0 to start the season! HAHAHA!
LOVE IT!
It was so intense, it felt like the playoff game. And now that it's finally COLD outside, I'll be pulling out the ol'hockey jersey!
Who's next? Ottawa? BRING IT!
Booya!

Howdy,
Been a little while since my last post. Mainly due to not having my computer at home anymore, it's still at Terry's place, we are working on the DVD edit.
I slept for 15 hours last night!!!! I got home from work, did a few things and then thought to take a power nap for a few hours. Well... when I woke up, it was 9... AM!! I was a little confused at first, I squinted at my alarm clock, 9:04, and then looked at the amount of light beaming in through the window, it took a few seconds for the proper neurons to fire, I guess my body needed it.
But I'm awake, refreshed and have NOTHING to do! :)
I've signed up for some kick-eth of the butt-eth acting workshops with a teacher by the name of Jacqueline McClintock . She's great, studied directly with Sanford Meisner, one of the most influential names in modern acting history, It's a real privilege.
That, along with the improv workshops I do with Terence Bowman of On The Spot, will hopefully help me out in the long run. When I can afford it, I'd love to take some voice and singing workshops... the shower enjoys my voice, but I'd like to expand my audience... :)
It's been kinda strange, since the 2 shows at the nest, we've all had a little time off, no rehearsals, no writing sessions, no administrative stuff, it's a very welcome break in many ways, but at the same time, I really want to get going again.
I think I'll go to Indigo or chapters and read for the afternoon! Yeah! I haven't done that in ages :) I guess I should enjoy that type of stuff while I still can, before the madness of the next Rubber Chicken Factory/Waiter By Day performance kicks off.
...Bring on the madness!

| Shoot... |
[Oct. 3rd, 2005|09:38 am] |
Ok, so the edit was a complete failure, we did not have enough footage to cover certain points in the show. But, all is not lost, we can still go back to the Nest and shoot pick-up shots of what we need. It will "look" like the stuff was shot on the same two nights, but only we will know that! :)
ok... now I have to kill you.

Ok, shows are done, now we edit, *snip* *snip*
This weekend, we are putting together a DVD of the show. There is a grant application deadline on Monday that needs to be met. We want to submit the DVD along with the application, so as to give them money bags people, a better idea of who we are and what we can do.
If it works out, we'll have partial funding to produce 3 short films. |

Rustam
The most famous hero of the great Persian Epic of the Kings, Shahname, by Firdaus (completed in 1010 CE/400 AH). Rustam was the son of Zal who was born with gray hair and educated at the court of King Minuchihir. When the boy was ten years old, the white elephant of the shah broke loose, but Rustam hit the animal with a club so that it fell down dead. Later he caught and tamed the stallion Raksh, which stayed faithful to him ever after.
Then one day, his horse was stolen while he was sleeping in the wilderness. He followed the tracks and came upon a city where he was well received. During the night, the daughter of the king appeared to him and explained that she had stolen the horse because she wanted him as her husband. Rustam and the princess, Tamine, were married and when Rustam had gone back to his endless battles, his wife gave birth to a boy whom she called Sohrab. Later in his life, unknown to him, Rustam killed his own son. |

Ok, so my name is Sohrab, that much we know. When I first created this LJ account, that was the name I tried to get, but it was taken. I didn't think much of it at the time, but today I realized that someone is blogging with that name here, so I went to check it out. I found this on his site. Interesting...
SOHRAB Gender: Masculine Usage: Iranian Pronounced: SOH-raab Means "illustrious," "shining" in Persian. In Persian legend Sohrab was the son of the hero Rustam. |

| Cletic Folk and candle wax |
[Sep. 18th, 2005|03:25 pm] |
So I went out last night to a pub with my director, ok, btw, from now on, I shall be referring to my director by his actual name, cause it sounds really pretentious otherwise. So, I was at a pub with Terry. He co-writes songs with a musician by the name of Stewart, he was playing there that night.
So about half way through the night, the candle on our table goes out, and I, not wanting to ruin the romantic mood between Terry and myself, decided to relight the candle. However, what I forgot to consider was the amount of liquid candle wax that had been building up inside the jar. Being my regular, smooth operator self, I turned the jar upside down so as to light the wick, and sure enough, what seemed like a raging river of hot wax poured out all over my pants.
Now, I only have 2 pairs of pants that I really like, this was one of them, so that kinda sucked. Lucky for me, they were thick jeans, so atleast I didn't get burned.
When I got home, I soaked them in hot water and soap, I'll be washing them tonight, we'll see what comes of it... *sigh*
But the music was great. Stewart is really talented. I'll see if I can get permission from them to post some of his songs here, I don't think it would be an issue, but better check first.
That's it for me, gotta go and make myself look all purtty for rehearsal now...

Out on a busy Thursday night on St-Catherine street, Mr. Swiggles' past finally caught up with him. That clown must have ticked off some pretty powerful people, they even took out his lady friend. It was messy, it was ruthless, it was personal. (...and slightly out of focus, oh well)
