Forming out of the military to raise morale for the troupes, once the war was over, they toured in Britain, US and Canada.

Really good stuff, powerful... which I wasn't expecting, the author gets heavily in to the war.

Alrighty, well, I'm gonna go catch the tail end of the Hockey Night in Canada double header, I think they are covering Calgary!

-Sohrab

Howdy,

Been a little while since my last post. Mainly due to not having my computer at home anymore, it's still at Terry's place, we are working on the DVD edit.

I slept for 15 hours last night!!!! I got home from work, did a few things and then thought to take a power nap for a few hours. Well... when I woke up, it was 9... AM!! I was a little confused at first, I squinted at my alarm clock, 9:04, and then looked at the amount of light beaming in through the window, it took a few seconds for the proper neurons to fire, I guess my body needed it.

But I'm awake, refreshed and have NOTHING to do! :)

I've signed up for some kick-eth of the butt-eth acting workshops with a teacher by the name of Jacqueline McClintock . She's great, studied directly with Sanford Meisner, one of the most influential names in modern acting history, It's a real privilege.

That, along with the improv workshops I do with Terence Bowman of On The Spot, will hopefully help me out in the long run. When I can afford it, I'd love to take some voice and singing workshops... the shower enjoys my voice, but I'd like to expand my audience... :)

It's been kinda strange, since the 2 shows at the nest, we've all had a little time off, no rehearsals, no writing sessions, no administrative stuff, it's a very welcome break in many ways, but at the same time, I really want to get going again.

I think I'll go to Indigo or chapters and read for the afternoon! Yeah! I haven't done that in ages :)
I guess I should enjoy that type of stuff while I still can, before the madness of the next Rubber Chicken Factory/Waiter By Day performance kicks off.

...Bring on the madness!

-Sohrab

Rustam

The most famous hero of the great Persian Epic of the Kings, Shahname, by Firdaus (completed in 1010 CE/400 AH). Rustam was the son of Zal who was born with gray hair and educated at the court of King Minuchihir. When the boy was ten years old, the white elephant of the shah broke loose, but Rustam hit the animal with a club so that it fell down dead. Later he caught and tamed the stallion Raksh, which stayed faithful to him ever after.

Then one day, his horse was stolen while he was sleeping in the wilderness. He followed the tracks and came upon a city where he was well received. During the night, the daughter of the king appeared to him and explained that she had stolen the horse because she wanted him as her husband. Rustam and the princess, Tamine, were married and when Rustam had gone back to his endless battles, his wife gave birth to a boy whom she called Sohrab. Later in his life, unknown to him, Rustam killed his own son.

Cletic Folk and candle wax

So I went out last night to a pub with my director, ok, btw, from now on, I shall be referring to my director by his actual name, cause it sounds really pretentious otherwise. So, I was at a pub with Terry. He co-writes songs with a musician by the name of Stewart, he was playing there that night.

So about half way through the night, the candle on our table goes out, and I, not wanting to ruin the romantic mood between Terry and myself, decided to relight the candle. However, what I forgot to consider was the amount of liquid candle wax that had been building up inside the jar. Being my regular, smooth operator self, I turned the jar upside down so as to light the wick, and sure enough, what seemed like a raging river of hot wax poured out all over my pants.

Now, I only have 2 pairs of pants that I really like, this was one of them, so that kinda sucked. Lucky for me, they were thick jeans, so atleast I didn't get burned.

When I got home, I soaked them in hot water and soap, I'll be washing them tonight, we'll see what comes of it... *sigh*

But the music was great. Stewart is really talented. I'll see if I can get permission from them to post some of his songs here, I don't think it would be an issue, but better check first.

That's it for me, gotta go and make myself look all purtty for rehearsal now...

tata
-Sohrab

Out on a busy Thursday night on St-Catherine street, Mr. Swiggles' past finally caught up with him. That clown must have ticked off some pretty powerful people, they even took out his lady friend. It was messy, it was ruthless, it was personal.
Ok, so we had that run the other night at the nest. It was a mixed performance, there are moments that work really well, but others that do not. That's the problem. When in that spot, you are constantly picking up and dropping the audience. So they never really get onboard the whole way through.

So that's what I'm working on now, trying to break down those moments that do not work and fix'em. With the guidance of our director, I think we can bang out a performance that will get the audience roaring. But we need to do the work, we need to pick it up...

-Sohrab

<lj:music>Norah Jones - The Long Day is Over</lj:music>

Today, I had one of those really nice days, it will stay vivid in my mind for a long time. Laying down on the grass, next to the water, feeling the sun shine down on my face, in the presence of terrific company and I think to myself... "man, this is wonderful." For a moment, I forget about my shows, I forget about my rehearsals and 7am shifts. All my worries and fears, suspended, if only for a moment.

A small dog chases down a rubber chew toy, a girl walks by with some sushi and an old married couple have their picture taken.
Color, I see color everywhere, it almost overwhelms me. The grass is trying to tell me something, it wants me to lay down on it. I comply without argument. The sky is big, blue and clear, it encompasses my entire field of vision. I have not seen such a sky, or more accurately, not noticed one, in a very long time.

A great big breath of fresh air fills my lungs. I remember what it feels like to breathe again. My mind has been patiently awaiting the much needed oxygen. Neurons start firing inside my head. There is so much beauty surrounding me and my companion takes some pictures. She captures the moment well.

We talk about important people in our lives. I’m grateful to share a moment of truth with someone.

...It was a great day.
